Ownchats help

Check the Ownchats product page for store availability; if it shows the launch list, join it for a launch email. Once available, install it in Chrome and pin the icon from the extensions menu. If you already have the unpacked folder, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and select ownchats/extension. Sign in to ChatGPT or Claude, open a saved conversation, click Ownchats and choose Markdown, Web page, Word or PDF. Read the receipt and warnings, then check the file; for PDF, choose Save as PDF in the print window.

Word, Markdown and HTML files are made locally and downloaded; PDF is saved where you choose in the print window. Keep copies of exported files and your original official archive in your usual backup location. The extension stores settings, the free-export count and license information in this browser profile, plus up to 20 recent conversation handoffs in IndexedDB for preview and printing. Imported archive conversations are held in the archive tab, while opening a preview can create a local handoff. These working copies are not a backup, so save files before uninstalling or deleting a browser profile.

Markdown and web page exports are unlimited on the free plan. Word and PDF share five free exports in total, rather than five of each or a monthly allowance. An export is counted when the generated document or print view is handed to the browser; cancelling the subsequent download or print dialog can still use a turn. A failure before delivery does not consume a turn, and an explicitly failed delivery rolls the count back. Pro removes the Word and PDF limit and adds message selection and archive bulk export.

Ownchats Pro is $24 USD once for the current major version and its 1.x updates, with no subscription. Choose Get Pro to open Ownchats checkout through Creem when purchasing is available. The verified payment return page shows the key, and your Creem receipt email also contains it. If checkout is unavailable or the key has not arrived, contact support rather than purchasing another product license.

Ownchats tries to activate automatically when the key appears on the payment return page in the browser where it is installed. To activate manually, click the toolbar icon, choose Settings, paste your key into License key and click Activate. Allow access to ingijy.com if Chrome requests it, then confirm Pro is active. If automatic activation is not confirmed, reload the complete return link or use the key from your receipt email manually.

One license can be active in up to three browsers, with each installation activated separately. Save your exported files and official archive, then open Settings on the old browser and choose Deactivate on this browser while online. Activate the same Ownchats key on the new computer; local settings and files do not transfer through the key. If the old browser is unavailable or the limit blocks activation, contact support with your purchase email and the error. Ownsteps and Ownchats keys are for their respective products.

File generation and reading a downloaded official archive happen locally; reading live chat data needs access to the chat service. First activation needs a connection, and the license is checked about every seven days when used. If the license service cannot be reached, an existing active installation keeps Pro for up to 30 days from its last successful validation; an explicitly inactive, expired or revoked license can stop Pro sooner. In Ownchats 1.0, re-entering the same activated key keeps the seven-day check interval, so reconnecting may not trigger an immediate retry. If the offline window has ended and Pro does not return, contact support.

License service is unreachable. Check your connection and extension permission. calls for checking connectivity and the extension permission for ingijy.com; Enter a valid license key. calls for pasting the complete product key without spaces inside it; License activation was not confirmed. means Pro has not been confirmed for this installation. Retry after checking the connection, or email support; exported files and the free-export count are retained, an existing activation keeps only its remaining offline window, and Markdown and web page exports remain free.

Ownchats offers a refund within 14 days of purchase, with no questions asked. Email [email protected] with your purchase email. The product page links to the refund policy, which explains requesting a refund through Creem.

A receipt reporting that all source messages were exported means the count matched the messages Ownchats could read, with no detected completeness limitation. It covers the current branch, rather than every alternate response or all account history, and can account for reasoning or tool messages deliberately hidden by your options. Read the notes as well: image placeholders can be reported even when counts match. Check the first and last messages and content you rely on in the saved document.

A receipt saying completeness could not be verified means the displayed count is not a guarantee that the source was fully preserved. Source message count does not match the available messages; completeness cannot be verified. means expected and available counts differ. Warnings about messages with no readable content mean a source turn had no usable body, while No messages are available; completeness cannot be verified. means there is no readable conversation to rely on. Let the chat finish loading, export again and inspect the file; if the warning remains, try the official archive or contact support.

Current branch marker missing; using the only leaf means Ownchats used the only possible ending because the source omitted its branch marker. Duplicate tree IDs; current branch is ambiguous and was skipped means duplicate identifiers prevent choosing a reliable branch. Warnings about an unavailable branch, missing parent or cycle mean the chain is incomplete or cannot be selected safely. Retry from the saved conversation or import its official archive, and review the result instead of treating the count as complete. Messages outside the current branch are alternate history and are intentionally excluded.

Reasoning and tool output are off by default, and the receipt says when turns containing only that content were hidden. Turn on Reasoning or Tool output to include them, then export again. Some content of a kind Ownchats doesn’t know yet was exported as plain text. means an unfamiliar type was preserved as readable text where possible, with a warning because its structure may not be fully understood. Review that section against the chat; mathematical formulas are kept as LaTeX text in version 1.0.

In Ownchats 1.0, ChatGPT image file pointers become placeholders rather than downloaded image files. Image bytes or a usable URL were not included in the source. means the source did not supply an image the exporter could include. The receipt reports unavailable images, and HTML or PDF can also mark URLs that cannot be embedded safely. Attachment names can be retained without file contents; save original images and attachments separately from the chat service if you need them. Matching message counts do not prove those original files were included.

Open a conversation on ChatGPT or Claude, then click Ownchats again. means the active tab is not a supported chat page. Open a saved conversation while signed in; a new, unsent chat has no saved conversation to export. If the popup asks you to reload, do that once after installing, then click Ownchats again. If the site does not return the chat, let it finish loading, scroll through it once and retry.

Ownchats first tries the chat service data; if it cannot read that data or the format is unfamiliar, it reads rendered turns from the page instead. Read from the page view; source completeness and the current branch cannot be verified. means this copy cannot establish that the whole source or correct branch was present. Page view only: unloaded turns, hidden branches and attachments may be missing. identifies the main limits. Scroll to the top, let earlier turns load, export again and compare the beginning and ending; an official archive is another option.

The 60-second scroll limit was reached; earlier turns may be missing. means page-view collection stopped before it could confirm the top of the chat. Load earlier turns yourself, wait for them to appear and export again. For long chats, check the first and last messages and the receipt, or import an official archive with the content you need. A matching count from the collected page alone cannot establish that unloaded history was included.

Some rendered windows did not overlap; message order and completeness could not be verified. means the loaded sections did not provide enough overlap to verify their sequence. Some turns lacked stable IDs; repeated text could not always be distinguished across rendered windows. means identical-looking turns could not always be matched reliably during scrolling. Review repeated prompts and ordering against the original, reload and export again, or use the official archive. Contact support if the warning persists.

A response is still streaming; its final text may be missing. means an answer was still being generated during page-view collection. Wait until the site finishes, then export again. Check the ending in both the conversation and the saved document before using the copy.

In ChatGPT or Claude Settings, use Export data and download the official account export when the service provides it. In Ownchats, choose Archive or Open archive, then drop the ZIP or its conversations.json onto the page, or use Choose file. Search titles and messages, filter or sort conversations, and select the chats you want. With Pro, choose Word, Markdown or Web page and click Export as ZIP; bulk PDF is not offered here. The result depends on what is in the downloaded archive, so keep that original as a backup.

Choose the export file from ChatGPT or Claude. calls for choosing the original official export ZIP or its conversation JSON, rather than a PDF, saved web page or unrelated ZIP; This file has no ChatGPT or Claude conversations in it. means the JSON lacks recognized conversation data; This file is not valid JSON. means it could not be parsed as JSON. Ownchats also reads numbered conversation JSON files inside an official ZIP, but a changed archive format may still need support.

Files are made locally in your browser, and conversation content is not sent to us. Reading a live chat can make requests to the chat service endpoints using your existing signed-in session, or read the page view when you ask Ownchats to read it. License checking is the only network contact the extension makes with us, covering activation, periodic validation and deactivation; it uses your key and a random installation identifier. Imported archive data is processed locally, with recent preview handoffs stored as described above. See the privacy policy for more details.
