Long chats come out whole
Many exporters copy what is on screen, so the start of a long conversation goes missing. Ownchats reads the conversation the way the chat site itself loads it, then checks the count before it saves.

Made on your computer
Chats hold work plans, code, health questions and drafts. Some exporters send your chat to their server to build the PDF. Ownchats has no server for that: Word, Markdown and web pages are built in your browser, and PDFs use Chrome’s own print to PDF, which also handles Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and emoji.
The only request Ownchats makes to us is a license check when you activate Pro.

Questions
Which sites does it work with?
ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) and Claude (claude.ai). Gemini support is planned. You need to be signed in, and Ownchats only reads the conversation you have open when you click export.
What about code, tables, images and sources?
Code keeps its language and line breaks, tables stay tables, links and web sources are listed under the answer. Images are included when the chat site provides them; otherwise the export marks where an image was. Reasoning and tool output are left out unless you turn them on.
Why is the PDF made through the print window?
Chrome’s built-in print to PDF renders every language and keeps text selectable, without sending your chat anywhere. Choose “Save as PDF” as the printer and the file is saved where you choose.
Is this allowed by ChatGPT and Claude?
Ownchats only reads your own conversations, in your own signed-in browser, when you ask it to. It never sends messages, runs in the background or collects other people’s data. For a full copy of everything, use the official data export from each site’s settings and open it in the archive.
