How to copy a table from ChatGPT or Claude
- Under the AI reply, click the copy icon. This copies the reply as Markdown, tables included.
- Paste it in the box above. Text around the table is ignored; if the reply has several tables, pick one.
- Check the preview, then download Excel, or copy and paste into Google Sheets.
Selected a rendered table with the mouse instead? That usually pastes as tab-separated text, which works here too.
Questions
Why not just paste into Excel directly?
The copy button usually gives you Markdown, so Excel puts each whole row, pipes included, into one cell. Splitting it by hand loses leading zeros (00123 becomes 123) and turns some values into dates.
Which values become numbers?
Plain numbers like 29 or -3.5 are stored as numbers in the Excel file so you can sum them. Anything with a leading zero, a currency sign, a percent sign or text stays exactly as typed.
Is my text private?
Yes. The conversion runs in this page and your text is never sent anywhere; the only network request is an anonymous page-view count (no cookies). Closing the tab clears it.
