ChatGPT exporter alternatives: formats, prices and privacy

The best ChatGPT exporter alternative depends on the job: an occasional PDF, editable Word files, machine-readable records, or organization across several AI services. Compare the format you actually need, the payment structure, and where conversation content is processed before choosing an extension.

This guide is published by Ownchats' maker. The competing products below were selected from our exporter research, and their first-party pages were checked on 14 October 2026. Prices and features are publisher statements, not results from installing or testing these extensions. We do not rank them by ratings or claim one exports every possible chat perfectly.

Prices and advertised strengths

A monthly equivalent billed yearly is an annual commitment, not a month-to-month offer. Lifetime scope also varies: AI Toolbox separates single-platform and All Access licenses, while Ownchats' stated $24 license covers the current major version and its 1.x updates. Recheck the checkout terms before paying.

When ChatGPT Exporter or SAVE ChatGPT is enough

ChatGPT Exporter's free PDF allowance may suit occasional saves better than paying for unlimited exports. Its advertised CSV and JSON output is also useful when you need structured data rather than a polished document. Its pricing page does not advertise Word output, so verify that requirement separately.

SAVE ChatGPT is a reasonable candidate for a simple free TXT or Markdown copy. The publisher describes a webpage-saving method without backend requests. That is a useful processing distinction, but it does not establish completeness on a long, partially rendered thread. Check the actual beginning and middle after saving.

When SaveAI is the better choice

SaveAI offers Word exports in its free tier and promotes Notion sync and several AI platforms. If you need Gemini now, or a direct Notion destination, those advertised capabilities are a closer fit than Ownchats 1.0. Ownchats has neither Gemini support nor direct Notion push in that version.

Evaluate the destination as part of the workflow. A document saved locally and a page sent to Notion have different storage and access arrangements. Confirm which conversation and workspace you are selecting before syncing work material.

When organization matters more than document export

Superpower combines exports with ChatGPT folders, prompts, notes, highlights, and search. It may be the better choice if you want those daily workspace features and accept a recurring price. Ownchats 1.0 is narrower; it does not provide cloud sync, tags, or a prompt-management system.

AI Toolbox is worth evaluating when work spans ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Grok. Its advertised module and All Access structure supports broader organization and paid bulk exports. Its free single-chat TXT output may suffice for a basic copy, while richer formats and bulk export belong to paid plans.

When ExportGPT or Thinksolv fits the deliverable

ExportGPT's product page, checked 2026-10, advertises selectable messages, editing and preview, and nine formats. It may fit when Excel, CSV, or JSON output is central, or when you prefer its displayed lifetime offer. Do not treat that offer as a permanent price.

Thinksolv's publisher listing specifically advertises Word/PDF export for Canvas and Deep Research. That makes it a candidate when those content types are your priority. The linked company homepage supplied no readable current price, so we cannot make a paid-price comparison or verify its processing boundary from that page.

PDF privacy differs by product

According to ChatGPT Exporter's privacy policy, checked 2026-10, PDF content goes to its backend for processing; other listed formats are processed locally. The policy says PDF content is handled in memory and discarded afterward. Local downloads therefore do not mean every conversion is local.

SaveAI's extension privacy policy, checked 2026-10, describes local DOCX and other exports, server-generated PDFs, temporary image handling, and Notion as a separate destination. ExportGPT's FAQ says screenshot and PDF processing use servers, while most other formats are local.

AI Toolbox's policy, checked 2026-10, describes cloud metadata and selected-chat server processing for features including PDF. Read the relevant platform section. We have not verified Superpower's full processing behavior or Thinksolv's PDF boundary here; do not infer local-only handling from a download button.

Test a representative chat before committing

Use a thread with a long middle section, one code block, a wide table, links, and an image if those matter to you. Record the intended branch, comparable message count, and distinctive first, middle, and last phrases. Reopen the output and search for those phrases. Review assets separately: counts do not detect every missing line or image.
